I just picked up an s trim, and ran into the tapping the oilpan problem. Is it manditory to tap the oilpan? Are there any ways around it? And if I dont tap the oilpan what will happen, meaning can I send it through the breather on the valve cover or something?

thanks for any help [patriot]

That's the pressurized oil feed line, the drain line is gravity fed back to the pan.

I've seen people tap the timing cover because it's easier to remove. but if you just follow the directions and put grease in the flutes of the tap, you won't run into getting any shavings in the pan.

I have mine tapped into the oil pan. The new units use their own oil though. I wonder if you could covert it to the newer style setup so you wouldn't have to drill the oil pan.

Tap the pan.. kinda scary to tackle but you should be fine as long as you follow the instructions in the Vortech kit to the T [patriot]
