okay i messed up my timing on 5.0 took the dist out and didnt mark the spot where it was and it didnt start. so i spin the crank to find tdc and drop back in. it starts but idles up n down like crazy. so when i give it gas a vibration comes from the center/firewall area, noticed lil bit of tranny fluid on the ground but not a lot. its worse when u drive it. could it be the timing? or could it be really low on fluid???

Are you sure you set your timing correctly? I would also check your plug wires for the correct ordering and any damage.

timing could be way off and two spark plug wires are burnt

Number 1 cylinder is on passenger side front of engine. Remove all the spark plugs and place you thumb over the #1 plug hole. Turn the engine until you feel the piston come up on the compression stoke. It will push at your thumb on the compression stroke. You can then insert a long screwdriver in the hole and touch the top of the piston. Turn the engine over by hand very, very, slowly until the piston is at TDC. Caution: Do not do this with the starter, turn it over by hand.

Check that the dist rotor and timing mark point to TDC

If it was 180 out it would not start. Go get yourself a timing light with an advance knob on it and see where the timing is set at and then put it back to factory spec. Also double check that you have the firing order correct.

i messed with the maf sensor when i put in my,cold air intake could that be it?

You said you have a vibration. I wouldn't think a MAF sensor would cause a vibration when you rev the engine. Did you check the timing?

About the vibration it sounds like you might have a bad harmonic balancer...That will throw the timing mark of cause it's bouncing all over the place...LMK

the engine is going to shake and run like shit until you set the timing correctly and replace the burned spark plug wires (and probably the spark plugs)

You can see if it moved by painting or chalking a white line on the zero mark (easier to see that way) on the balancer. Then use your timing light with the advance knob to check your timing. The number of advance of the balancer should match the timing lite number once you turn the advance knob to match the number you recorded off the balancer. (There may be an easier way of doing this but this is what I have done in the past)

You need to bring out your tools and start checking things to rule them out as it could be a lot of things causing your problems.
