i hav an 89 coupe, brand new battery and alternator, but da battery doesnt recive a charge from da alt, and my amp light is on in da dash???

make sure your connections at the alt and the solenoid are not burnt/melted/corroded.
89 mustang will have an internal regulated alternator, so you will have to bring the alternator to a parts store and have them test it out for you.

Here's an odd-ball one for you:
check behind the instrument cluster. There should be a resistor there & check the connection. If its bad or not making a connection then your alt will not get the signal needed to "charge"
