are your torque boxes welded up and/or reinforced? If not, be careful launching with drag radials or slicks, they'le rip up your torque boxes. Just a heads up if you dont already know [patriot]

are you saying that you have 3" exhaust on a stock car? if so, you would benefit hugely alone by going 2 1/2"....

Jordan-0806 did you ever run the coupe?

99% of people here will tell you no, because most people can run 12's in a bone stock foxbody... [Roll Eyes] Anyway, yes 14.7 sounds about right, and also you should definately remove your 3" and reinstall 2.5.

I forgot to say that its simply a baseline time for me beacuse i went to see what i was starting with..and i believe i fucked up on my tire preasure...i was reading that the FALKEN AZENIS (315/35/18) tire preasure should be at 28 psi for best performance at the track..and I had them at 13 psi all 13 passes

I think if you went down to a 2 1/2" exhaust you'd probably pick up .5 as well....just an opinion

My buddy ran a 14.0 in a stock 89 GT with a E cam, street tires and no catback because it fell off, the car was a fucking bucket. When we first saw the car it had been sitting outside with the hood and hatch popped for a year and a half.

The exhaust isn't too big, your engine is too small. Leave the 3" on the car and put a bigger motor in it! [Wink]

what was your trap speed mph. if you have a e cam you will not benefit anything unless you upgrade your heads and intake

Its stock...has no signs of tampering into the timing cover(stock gaskets)...it idles stock..dude that owned it before couldn't even park it right if he tried...so its stock

14.7 for a car that has 3in full exhuast and drag radials I wud consider that slow if anything
A stock 5.0 is capable of running a 14.6 with no mods not even exhaust...not talkin mess but that's a lil slow
Change the pipin and with the radials u shud be running 14.2s 14.3 all day

i didn't read all these but no it is not

i got a 14.40 from my stock 1990 aod car
i got a 14.2x from my stock 1988 notch 5 speed
and my '89 notch wasn't stock long enuff but with just 4.10's and mickey's it went 13.60's

14.7 is about right for a stock full weight gt (1987-93 cars) if you granny shift it. You car has drag radials so it should be a bit better though. What were your traps and 60 foot times?

Then again..driver experience and skill has a contributing factor. Are you power-shifting any of the gears?

I bought my car in 95 and it had 9k miles on it and was 100% stock. I ran 14.51 @ 93.7mph the first time out. I only had the car for 2 weeks at that point and I only got 4 passes down the track. It is a 5spd LX Hatch. I am sure I could have gone quicker with some more practice but I modified it before bringing it back out. This was on the factory tires. I took the airbox snorkel out of the fender, added a drop-in K&N, and put flowmasters and underdrive pulleys on it and I ran 14.4 @ 97mph the next week. The mph went way up but I spun too much and had worse 60fts. It went to low 14's with more experience. It got into the high 13's @ 100mph with stickier tires, shorty headers, and offroad H-pipe. Mid to low 13's with 3.55's and even better tires.

What was your trap speed?

I ran 14.6 in a 100 percent stock 88 gt on my stock tires.

You're upset you ran a 14.7, BUT YOU CAUSED IT! 3" exhaust is TOO big for your combo. Don't think it matters? Unless you're putting down 400 "RWHP" the 2 1/2" is what you need. You should put a HUGE cam in your car while your at it, then you'll run 15's and want to buy a Chevy even worse!

Kids who mix match parts and get pissed at the ET's = [Roll Eyes]

I ran a stock coupe 5 speed with the same set up RyanM has and on street tires ran 14.3 at 94 mph and with Hoosier QTP tires barely launching at 2000 rpm ran 14.0 at 96. Your close just work on your launches and shift points. you'll get it! [burnout] [burnout] [burnout]
