I have a 1996 cobra that has what sounds like (for the sake of an example just follow me on this) a lifter tick. THe car will overheat if driven a few minutes and it sounds like the timing could be off or something, but the car has been sitting. The ticking seems to not be that bad as you get on the gas so Im thinking that it might be a bad exhaust valve or something.

Any body have any input?
Thanks

it could possibly be a intake spacer nut, or a manifold screw. i was even told your shifter may be too tight and cause a tick [Eek!]

Blown headgasket is a start. Im going to pull the heads and have them tested and I might as well put new valves and springs etc in. Hopefully this will solve everything.
