I have a 1998 Mustang V6 commuter car with 140k miles. When the car shifts into third gear, and the rpm's drop, the car sort of "misses/shudders"
It feels like it shifts normal into the gears, but the miss/shudder is after its already in gear. Any clues what it might be? I was going to change the tranny oil bc I read it can help with this sort of problem, but I have also read that it can cause more problems with the tranny by changing the oil with high miles.

sorry. automatic.
I heard there is an anti shudder additive you can add that fixes the issue 80% of the time. Anybody tried it?

Check the fluid first to see if its burnt, no point in putting additives in bad fluid. If burnt change it and also the filter, that would be the less costly approach. If that doesnt work, take it to an AAMCO or somethin, I think they trouble shoot for free [patriot]
