ok so i want to swap out my engine can any one let me know how hard or easy can this be im just swaping a stock ho to another i blew a head and oil pump went out at the same dam time yesterday [Mad] i have a 93 engine lined up for dirt cheap with 92xxxx miles on it i aslo want to know what are the pros and cons of the 93 engines i have hurd several things about the internals is there anything else that i need to know oh one last thing my car is an 87 so no mass air would the 93 run any different without it or just run like my original 87 engine [Confused] let me know what u guys think might help me out please want to get as much info before doing this in two weeks

93 uses hypo pistons. as long as you swap over all your sensors and stuff it shoud run just fine

Direct Replacement. You wont need to change a thing! All the sensors,accesories,intake etc... are the aame.

The Mass air has nothing to do with the engine or how it will run. Stick with the same computer and wiring, bolt the motor in and your good to go!

thanks guys so now for the swap any ideas or methods you guys have to yank that beat up engine out? should i take it out with the aod or would it be better to leave it in and just unbolt..any short cuts or things i shouldnt even bother with....also what should i check for on the 93 engine for flaws it has the upper and lower off timming chain ac ect... all it really is a block with oil pan and heads im swapping out all my accessories on to it again thanks for the replys and keep the knowledge comming [Smile]

drain the tranny first unless you have a spare driveshaft yoke to plug it with. Start from the bottom then work your way to the top. thats so your not laying in coolant and tranny fluid.
slowly pull the engine out to verify everything has been disconnected.
Get some jack stands


btw. its gonna rain hard all week.
