hi everyone! this is my first time posting on california fords i use this forum regularly to get information and theres a lot of great stuff on here so thanks for all the good info!
i have a 1990 mustang 5.0 california edition came from the factory (or dealership) with race craft suspension by steve saleen other than that its completely stock. ive owned it for a couple months now, and ive noticed a loud poping/clunking noise from the rear passenger side sometimes when shifting, after leaving from a stop and making slow right turns, and my initial thought was a worn bushing or damaged control arm so i purchased racecraft upper and lower controll arms which i was going to get anyways, and when i got under the car to put them in i notice that the passenger upper torque box was very badley damaged and partially torn out. i was surprised considering the car is completly stock, wondering how this managed to happen, and i thought usually this is the cause of chassis binding or possibly use of poly bushings or jus alot of hp and 5k clutch dumps on slicks lol. so my next step was going to get a good upper AND lower battle box or torque box reinforcement kit.
so i put the racecraft controll arms in anyways and there poly btw. and i was wondering if it would be a good idea for my next step to go with a reinforcement kit? and if so would anyone know of a good reputable shop near the bay area that could install one of these kits???
i really dont know how much good that upper arm is doing right now with the badley damaged mount and i am worried about more damage beacuse this is my daily driver and i dont want to tear it up any more. (with the arm out of the mount i was able to pretty much move the mount around a little bit with a litle muscle) its pretty bad lol.
any suggestions, ideas or tips would be very greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!
