Alright I picked up an 85 yota crawler. Dual cases, 5.29's, bobbed, dovetailed, etc... Im prety excited and already took it on a couple hour drive home so it's prety reliable. The only thing is it needs to be smogged and the check engine light is on. It also has trouble starting when it gets cold and will crank but wont fire. Its a 22re so its injected and once it gets warm it fires up right away. Im thinking the engine light could be related to the poor cold start and was looking for ideas before i try to figure it out tomorrow. I need to smog it tomorrow so im gonna SeaFoam it tonight. Any ideas for a better cold start folks???

PS. Once i get some help and just get this thing on track I will post some pics for all to see. [Whoo Whooooo!]

Yeah im on pirate4x4 as well, but everyone is so much nicer over here, haha. Im gonna figure out the code tomorrow when I do some work, I was just seeing if someone thought "I had that same exact problem..."

On a side note, I used that seafoam and it didn't even send out a puff of smoke... what the hell? I doubt a yota engine with 100k is that clean....

Yeah pirate4x4 members are not too friendly. I've been a member for some time. When you're ready to smog it throw in some chevron 91 and a bottle of rxp. I just smogged my 88 4runner 7" lift 37" Mtr's & 5.29 gears. It passed the shiffer test with flying colors. Failed the visual though...

As for the hard start, run the code first and go from there. The cold start injectors do fail on the 22re so it's a good place to start.
