Is it posible to hammer out the studs with just removin the backplate and not the whole axle?

Yes. Be careful though because of the ABS ring, if equipped.

Haven't done it on my Mustang, but for other cars, I have used a nut, washer and socket to draw it back on.

Doesn't hurt to throw them in the freezer for a while first, too.

+1 I used a impact gun to draw them in.

Metal will shrink when chilled. Helps them go in a lil easier. It will take more than a few minutes though...more like hours.
