same here, from the top for the passenger side and from the bottom on the drivers. had to loosen up the motor mount bolts ( on the k-member side ) to raise the motor up a liitle to help with the drivers side.

Put them back in the box, post them on Craigslist, make a few dollars, and keep your shorties and ground clearance. [Smile]

dunno.. maybe its the reason I did not have to touch the steering shaft when mine went in. its probably bought me more room on my setup between the steering shaft and the engine.

Put it on jackstands a minimum of 2' off the ground, use a hoist to lift the motor, and disconnect the steering shaft.

I dunno if I'd call that a deal...you still gotta deal with trying to get a smog if you leave them on, they don't pass visual, loss of ground clearance on a lowered car, etc...

I  my longtubes - hella torque! I have longtubes on all 3 stangs, including 1-3/4" on teh cobra... Had no problems dropping them in from the top, no jacking or hoisting - but did have to clearance the firewall-to-floorpan corners a bit...

my smog is in 2months and i got the shortys right now. but since my whole motor gotta come out for a overhaul playing with longtubes for 2 years might be kinda fun.

this is not fun at all..especailly by yourself..all i gottado is bolt up the h pipe and im done

i had to do the same thing myself....i used the jack to help hold up the mid pipe, it saves you from getting really pissed off

I used 1 5/8 BBK LT's, I had to lossen the mounts for clearence on the drivers side, passenger side slipped in from the top with no problems. For my car, I did not have to mess with the rag joint; some do some dont.
