Depends on the tune. Also, what kind of cai are you running?some cais are not legal. Make sure you have carb numbers for everything.

what are cai's?

Cold Air Intake

Is it tuned or are you running off the stock ECU? With 30s, and no tune, it won't pass idle. You can try to pull the timing back to 8* and see how it does. As stated, all smog equip has to be in place and functioning correctly.

The AEM fuel rails are gonna freak out the smog guy, if he is even slightly curious. Never seen a CARB # for aftermarket rails. Since they don't really do an idle test anymore, it makes it a bit easier on the cars with cams. It's 15 and 25 mph tests on the rollers.

If the car doesn't look to flagrantly guilty under the hood, so long as it's clean out the sniffer you can probably get by. But as said before, gotta have ALL the smog stuff in place and working.

I just passed finally with tfs 1 and 30's. I had to turn my fuel pressure down to 25 and put a stock 195 thermostat in. If you car doesn't get hot enough the cats won't fire and the whole system gets f'd. I failed 3 times before i passed. This was with a bassani catted x.

cut the wire on one side of the spout conn in the hrness and hide it then make the wire so you can hook it back up so you will get the timming advane back. with the wire un hooked you will get retarded timming and hc and co will go way down. it works ty it on the smog dyno many times

people have told me if i tell the tech i have e cam i should pass fine

Not sure if I would go cutting into the spout circuit. Grab a spout connector at the wrecking yard, cut off one of the tabs inside, and now you have a dummy connector. The smog tech cannot make adjustments, so he'll never know. Wouldn't recommend driving the car like that though.

I passed with a 331, AFR heads, Holley Systemax intake, 30lb injectors, TFS stage 2 cam and no tune.

Don't say shit about the cam other than it's stock. And that's if he asks. Do the 195 T-stat. And ask for the pre-test. If it looks like it's not going to pass then the info won't get sent to the state. PRE-TEST. It's an ass savor if your in doubt. And of course make sure it's tuned properly. Let us know how it goes. when they pull the spout to check timing its to easy to see its been tampered with which is a fail i dout you can gut the spout that easy and make it undetectable it is easyer to hid in the harness and who told any body to drive it whith the spout cir dissconeted

Hopefully you passed by now. I had a set up with holley systemax II h/c/i with 30lb injectors, bigger mass air t/b cai etc... 195 thermo a must, also and MOST IMPORTANTLY retard timing to 8 degrees, go in with a half tank of 91 octane, and load up with A LOT of ocatane booster! cheap kragen stuff will work fine, make sure you drive around for 30 40 miles before you go in, also really get on the throttle before you go in to break up any caron off the valves and piston tops, doing the aformentioned has helped me drasticlly. in my opinion. do the timing and the octane! it works!
