Can't make up my mind on which to get, leaning towards the 3.73's but I have somebody giving me a good deal on some 3.55's, what are the pros and cons on these size gears?

Any and all replies are highly appreciated, thanks.

Oh, car is a '91 Notch 5spd if it matters.

I have 3.55 on all my stangs, one is supercharged, one NA, one carbed, all 347 strokers. It's a good, mild street gear great for freeway driving and commuting, with decent gas mileage.

However, my cars feel somewhat sluggish with that gear. You would get more of the feel of acceleration from 3.73 or taller. I was like you, I got the 3.55 gears because they were cheap and plentiful. But doing it again, I would go 3.73.

3.55 isn't horrible though, you can live with it if you're on a budget. But you'll be happier with 3.73.

I've had both, and prefer the 3.73's on a 5spd mild 5.0

I have 3.73s in my 01GT.

Go with the 3.73s you will be happy with the acceleration and freeway driven.

I would go with the 3.73's. It would be perfect for your 5.0

4.10 in less your going with a blower or turbo

I have 3:55s, it is good for me because I drive on the freeway alot. But as far as the track goes I wish i had 3:90's or 4:10s. 3:90s seems like a good, more aggressive ratio. Not a extreme as 4:10s. You never hear about many people using it either...

Keep em coming guys...

Go 3.73's NA, 3.55's if it's charged. 4.10's in a DD Fox or SN are a waste in my opinion.

3.90's were a marketing gimmick...and it worked. Less than 5% of the cars out there can even benefit from it.

are u running an auto or 5 speed?? an auto i would run a 3.73 or 4.10 but a stick car i would stick with a set of 3.55s..... [worship]

410s with hci

I had 3:55's on my Fox and they were great. 4:10s are way too much for a mildly modified car.

3.73 on my daily driven hci not bad but....

I did not like the 4.10, when i would drop that bitch into 3rd going around 55mph that shit would redline almost immediately, then I went with some 3.73 but I think 3.55 would be a little better.

so my vote is for some 3.55

So now that you have the 3.73's what the difference when you drop it inot third at 55 MPH?

i have 3.73's with h/c/i and 5 speed. pulls hard, drives great on freeway. a lot easier to drive now with the gears rather than the 2.73's

after droping in 3rd w 3.73 you get to actually use that gear, not a whole lot before it wants to redlines, but still usable to pull on somebody hard on the freeway. I think the 3.55 would better suited for what I like to do

Deff go with 3.73's, i've had all different ratios, i like em the best, The number one question is what type of driving do you do? block to block street racing? go with a 410 back country corner carving 355 all around performance go with 373's, you will notice a huge seat of the pants differance, just make sure you have a reputable shop install them right! And only uy the fms gears through ford! They dont vibrate as much the tolerance is tighter. Also keep in mind it depends what wheel size you will be running? 15-20" is quite a differance in gear selection. In my opinion 355's are a waste of money...
