to check for spark pull of a plug wire put a plug in wire ground the plug and crank engine to check for fuel remove air cleaner move throttel linkage and look in carb and see if it squrts gas

Wow using commas or periods would have helped me read that much easier....

what type of carb do you have?? holley, eldlebrock .. sounds to me that the carb is flooding itself out. It could be a sticky float or too full of float. Try holding the pedal to the floor and do not pump the gas once the car dies. I would for sure start by checking your fuel bowl levels.

no holley or elder its an original carb i dont think it has to do with fuel because the fuel squirts in just fine even after it dies out someone told me i could be the distrubutor coil but not sure how to check that

not holley or elder its an original ford carb and i dont think its a fuel problem because it still squirts fuel fine after it dies but someone told me i could be the distrubutor coil but not sure how to check that

Have you checked to see if the automatic choke is opening? Just take off the air cleaner. If not, just prop it open and try starting it. You have fuel so it's electrical or too much fuel.

i was talking about when the car dies, look inside the carb to see if fuel is dripping into the carb after the car is off.(with you not touching the throttle) Check that choke too...

So have you checked to see if you are getting spark??? Do you have points still or petronix's?
-also check to and make sure the two wires that connect to the coil have a good connection.

good batt cables for sure must be good ive seen that to. but ive mostly seen where the dist ign parts work when cold, but when they warm up they dont. hard one to trace even when u test ohm them out, u gotta do it cold and hot when testing.try swaping the coil or dis for a quicky.
