Its time..

I'm front-ending my 1964 Falcon.

I have been looking at some different kits for some time now and would Need some input from everyone.

I'm looking for a fairly in-expensive kit to remove my stock shock towers and use a rack and pinion steering of some sort.

What have you used in the past?

What works better than the others?

What should I stay away from?

Is there somthing I can piece together to get my desired result?

What companies have you heard of that do these?

Thanks in advance for all of your help

If you want to do it on he cheap... Re do the front suspention with stock style stuff. You can get a good riding/ handling with stock style. Maier Racing make a great frontend that would ride nice www.maierracing.com .

If you want to notch / cutout the shock towers.... Buy a nice kit... You get what you pay for so I wouldn't go cheap if you go that route. Just my .02 [patriot]

I've been looking at the RC motorsports kit. Just trying to decide on what to purchase.

Figured I'd ask and see who has run what and get pros/cons.

Thanks for the reply.

I've always liked the maier racing stuff

heidts has a pretty good design and with upgrades is not a bad deal. Im probably going to go with the heidts kit on my mach 1 as the griggs kit is a bit more pricey.

I've done quite a bit more research into this..

You should look into the RC motorsports kit.

Very nice

Hey nice to see another falcon lover. Is yours a post? Im picking one up soon- 64 2dr post and already have a lot of plans. Just out of curiosity why are you going towards a rack-and-pinion? Are you looking for better handling, freeing up room, or what? If you want to keep it cheap, you can put a mustang II front end in it. If you're trying to keep it clean, I would go with heidts or something but Im not sure how "performance" based their setups are as I only see them on classic show cars.

Probably not what you're looking for at all but if you just want to clean it up, you could get new export braces. I made a post about it down the page a bit....

Its just a sedan. I have had it for about 15 years now. Started life as the biggest pile of crap you could imagine and with a lot of money and time its getting better by the day.

I'm in the middle of a 442 windsor build and was trying to find a set of "off the shelf" headers that had at minimum, 1 7/8" primarys. I own a shop here in So Cal and basically have a full fabrication faciity at my disposal, but I'm lazy and was trying to find a easier way out of cuttin the front end off. So now its just a deal of making room and the car safer to race. It 60' in the mid 1.40s and the 'toe in' on the launch is stupid, so when I come down, the car goes where ever. So doing this is going to make it a lot safer..

I've done almost all of them. But you never know if somthing else is out there that might be better that you havent heard of, unless you ask.

Im pretty sure the heidts kit is similiar, i talked to these guys years ago but keep getting stage fright to cut the car up. Heidts uses a little bit bigger bolt for the lower control arms as that is where the failure usually occurs, fat man fabrication had a problem with using grade 5 bolts a few years back. There is a shop in fresno that was at HAN and said i could come down and drive there cars if i had any doubts about the heidts kit. I think i looks clean and will be much easier to work on. Good luck.

www.pro-touring.com and www.lateral-g.net is a better place to ask about this.
