I can't get my engined timed with th msd distributor and the timing mark jumps around. I get a near perfect idle at 10 degrees advance when the spout is back in but a slight surge between 950 and 1200 rpm. If I advance to 14 it runs like poop. The injectors are fat at idle but anything off idle it runs like a raped ape. If I replace with stock distributor. The problem is less apparent. Still has small surge that I believe is from to much fuel at idle but less fuel will lean it out up top. Does this sound like the tfi is bad on the msd? The setup is a 347 afr 185, Vic 5.0, custom grind cam, 1.6 intake 1.7 exhaust RR's, 75mm tb and 75mm maf, 44# injectors, no smog equiptment what so ever

Check your distributor drive gear. Sounds like you *may* have the wrong setup.

Make sure the teeth aren't wearing out. The wrong gear will destroy itself...and your motor.

I have an MSD ProBillet dist and I didnt have any problems with it (yet) but when I had my car tuned the tuner suggested that the after market dizzies are "noisey" and can be a cause of many problems. [Confused]
