So I have been having fan issues on my 92 LX. I have a fan controller which i have replaced twice, which is this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-30332/ So I decided forget this thing and just run a toggle switch. Now my actual fan has a hard time getting started. If I help it start (spin it), then it's fine. This is the current fan I have: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-160/. I believe this fan is on it's last leg. Now, my question is, first what is your idea of my current problem? And second, if I do need to replace my fan does anyone know of a good one I don't have to spend $300?

Get a Lincon Mark VIII fan $60. I have one on my truck and it cools great.

Yes, used to work great until that controller went out and hasn't worked the same. All grounds are good. I just RE-wired the whole fan system this weekend just to be sure.

No problems mounting or anything? I have a huge aluminum radiator. Is that new or used cost? And from where?

i would go with v6 contour fan. you can use the same controller you have with a 40 amp relay. those mark 8 fans are great but if you dont have the clearance or right controller they can be a pain

Get a Mark VIII fan and use a stinger 80 amp relay to wire it up. Just wire the positive side of the relay to an ignition wire. It will turn on when you have your car on. I can take some pics of my install if you want. Better have at min a 130 amp alternator.
use the link for the relay.

I contacted Summit and they are going to credit me the money for the controller, which is cool. Apparently this has happened to many, not extremly common but is possible. As for the fan I might just purchase another motor with a 1 yr warranty or purchase one from another member.

I've gotten 3 or 4 mark8 fans for around $20 at the junkyard, takes 5 minutes to pull. The ones from 4.6L tbirds are pretty similar too.

That is where I got mine.
Fitment is fine. You can also trim it easily. My lightning has a fat radiator also and I just bolted it in with some elbow brackets. Easy part was mounting it. Hard part was finding an 80 amp relay but they are out there. DO NOT FORGET THE IN LINE FUSE! I use 60amp in line fuse.
For the Mark VIII you need a larger alternator (you should have one anyway!) and the 40 amp relay wont cut it.
I paid $60 for the fan, used. Paid like $25 for the relay, new Had the wiring already and the toggle switch already.

I ended up just buying another fan motor. Came with a 1 year warranty. Thanks to all that PM'd me about the fans they had up for sale.
