I juss added gt40 heads and a cobra upper and lower...the car has never been tuned I currently have cobra upper lowerr. E303 cam 70mm tb cai headers. And from a dead stop I can't even roast the tires... this car feels like it has no power. Does anyone have a handheld tuner or anything I can do to make this thing run right?.

You can't tune the 5.0 with the handheld tuners, you need a custom chip, but with those mode I don't think it would be worth the 4-500$ for it, sounds like you have other problems, check your timing and fuel pressure.

wow i dont have the cam or the heads and i can blow the tires off my car from a dead stop and i have an AOD, sounds like you def have issues elsewhere

Im at 14 degrees too. If you have cats on the car make sure they arent clogged.

with a fuel pressure gauge

Timing is relative. That is, due to the setup of the 5.0 front cover, balancer & timing pointer, every motor is a little different. That is, they all read a little different with a timing light.

I've degreed several balancers relative to the #1 piston at TDC. Most balancers are off by 1-4 degrees. Advance or Retard.....it depends.

The car currently at the shop has an aftermarket timing pointer....it was 7 degrees off.

It's not hard to degree your balancer, it just takes a screw-in TDC stop (screwed into the spark plug hole), a wrench to turn over the motor & some patience.

its not going to have too much power from the go for one i would try to trade someone for a 65 mm tb for two you have an auto your converter locks up at dont quote me but i think 8 or 9 hundred and that cam doesnt cut on untill 2500 or 3000 i cant remember. even if you tune it it not going to do what you want you need gears and a stall then tune it [Wink]

What gears and tires are you running? That could explain a couple of things. With an e cam and upper/lower intakes you should not be losing that much low end as compared to the stock setup.

Whats the compression like?

17 inch cobras and i juss got some like nittos but they have like 50% tread. and i am pretty sure i have 373 gears...and wat would switching my 70 mm tb to 65 do?.

switching your tb from 70mm to 65mm gives you more back pressure aka torque

for that setup, switching from a 65mm to 70mm TB is not going to really do anything for you..

Probably already been said in some of the resonses above but.. before you try and have your car chipped you should start with a basic tune and check the following:

* fuel pressure
* TPS
* Timing
* Idle (using idle screw)

I am assuming that when u threw all those parts on you replaced the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, dist cap/rotor and wires. If you didn't then do all that next.

It will take a little while for your computer to adjust to the new parts so drive it around for a bit.

After all that if it still runs like crap then post back up [patriot]

okkay when i puuut my foot to the floor it accelerates hella slow it seems like somthing 2 do with the throttlebody or somthings out of adjustment.

Posted by trickflow211 (Member # 8503) on :

it takes a while to climb rpms. its like its not getting full throttle....u kinda have 2 drive it 2 understand it...

wrong.... it gives you more velocity over volume.

spending a couple 100 dollars on something that will give you no beneficial power makes no sense...

how did you install the cam? if it is installed retarded it would be low on bottom end power.
