unless you find a way to get that check engine light to come on for like 1 or 2 seconds its not like they plug in the obd 1 cars (usually) not saying it will pass but its just something to think about especially since getting that combo to pass looks like it isnt going to be the easiest .

I run a twEECer R/T on my `89, h/c/i/procharged. Passes smog perfectly, but all my parts have carb #'s on them and all smog equipment is hooked up and functional.

Megasquirt makes an adapter that plugs into the stock wiring harness, so you could switch back and forth plug to the stock computer easily.
