When i turn my car on for the first time, it starts up just fine, but after i drive around for awile and turn it off when i go back to turn it on, it cranks until i guess there is no more juice and nothing happenes (doesnt turn on). If i wait about 2-3 min. after tryin to turn it on it starts wright up. Any ideas on what it might be? Thanks

TFI module, coil, or fuseable link. Check spark and fuel pressure immediately after it happens.

had similar issues on my 94 where after driving for about 10min or when the engine was warmed up id try to restart it but the cranking would be extremely slow. in my case it turned out to be a weak ground terminal , after cleaning it up the car would start fine so in my case the higher resistance and a heat soaked starter was enough to cause hot start issues.

Thanks alot fellas, sounds like i might need to get a mechanic involved. Where is the ground terminal on a 302 if its easy enough i would like to fix myself. Thanks

how old is the starter? I had issues where the headers where getting an old starter too hot. electricity doesnt like heat, resistance goes up.

try a new tfi bro, those things are sensitive and gay like that. take a 7/32ths deep socket with you to Depot and put one in you pocket.

square grey box on the distributor

before replacing it, check to see that you're getting spark. if none, both the tfi and stator could be bad. i replaced the tfi only to find out a few miles later that the stator was bad as well.
