so this noise has been occuring for a little while, im not sure if its something bad or what. when the car is cold only while releasing the clutch to take off in first gear the clutch makes a squeaking noise. almost like a grinding. the closest i can relate it to is nails on a chalkboard and it goes away when the car warms up. does anyone know what this could be??

If ur clutch is still good then u can just change the bearing but if ur in there might as well upgrade the clutch

I agree with F8LSN8K.
If you're gonna drop the tranny to change the throw out bearing minus well change the clutch while you're at it.Its always easier to do it that way you don't waste you're time just changing the throw out bearing...+1
