Just wondering from those of you who have built/installed a motor in your own garage... How was it?

I have minimal experience: done heads/cam/intake, fuel pump, brake system, clutch.

For a first time motor replacement what's your advice? Better to have someone put together a custom setup and drop it in yourself?

I've done a 351 into an '88 full-size Bronco. Building the motor is easy. Dropping it in is another story.

Must have tools for installing a motor:
1. A buddy. An extra set of hands saves a ton of time and frustration
2. An engine hoist.
3. A good floor jack, possibly 2.
4. Jack stands.

installed yourself would save lots of cash...take your time and do it youself

Time and patience...you gotta have alot of these. If it's your first one, expect to take 3-4x's as long as a experienced person. As stated, doing the install yourself can save $...just make sure you get it right the first time.
