What all is needed to install a 5.4 in a 96? Would I still be able to use the 2v heads/cam/intake setup? Any special wiring needed? Please let me know if you have some info

thats pushrod vs modular, over head cam. parts are not interchangeable and ull have smog issues if u throw a 351 on there.
u might as well do an 03cobra conversion or even 96-98 cobra

If this is going to be a strictly drag car and no possibility of ending on the street then the 351w (might as well stroke it out to something bigger too like a 373 or something)is a good choice. It might end up cheaper then a 03-04 motor conversion simply on the availability of parts and such.
Nothing from your 2v motor will transfer over so consider this a complete motor conversion.

I might be wrong, but I thought JohnB installed a 351 in that yellow Mach 1 clone that he sold

usually when you want to do a legal motor swap, the engine has to be newer, year wise, than the car. the last time the 351 was out was in '95 i believe in the s351 saleens. so techincally, you can't really do a smog legal swap. if anything look into a '03-04 cobra swap. or trade for a '94-95 mustang then you can pull it off.
as mentioned, nothing from your 2v will be useful anyways.

Ok...I got my stuff all mixed up, sorry for the confusion. What I meant to ask was how to fit a 5.4 in my car...like the one StangRUs is selling right now.

It was a 5.4 2v that I installed. Basically, you need mods done to the H or X pipe, intake adapter plates or a custom intake, and a few small nut/bolt changes. The adapter plates are the pricey piece..most are over $350.

Check out the post. He changed it from a 351w to 5.4 Mod question.

Thanks for the info John How much would you do the install for if I buy the adaptor plate? WOuld you be able to mod the X/H-pipe and provide the misc nuts and bolts? What kind of gains would I see with this?
Thanks

The last year Saleen used the 351W motor was 2000.

hes talking about a modular 5.4 not a 351.
the swap is pretty straight forward. youll be able to use all of your wiring and parts off of you current motor. youll need to swap over you oil pan, and pickup to the 5.4 as well.
