Me an my buddy are doing his gears today (first time ever) but we cant the pinion off, we took off the pinion bolt, the pinion flange an all the seals but the pinion wont come out... we read on another website to hit it out if its stuck, So we beat the shit out of it an it hasn't budged!! ANY HELP????

I did that already using a pretty heavy melot... you should see the bolt!!!!

their is your problem right there the bolt still on it.if you have air hammer with the punch bit you that should work.an make sure the 3rd member is removed frist

Not the actually nut the end of the pinion that the nut bolts on to!! All its doing is taking thread off!

do you know how to set them up or any of the bearing preloads? if not i would let someone who know what they are doing work on it.

Go to jaw gear and axle & 3hrs later u will save a headache and grinnng while mashing thru gears

Naw the piont is we are learning.... I figured it out already some times the just get hot an sieze in there an its a major bitch to take out!! Usually it just comes off thats why i was trippin but thanks for the help.

From around 2001 and up they were sealed to the carrier bearing from the factory. It's not fun removing them. [Wink]
