trying to settle a argument between some buddys
i know their are many different 351W blocks from different years, lets say a yearly 70's 351 block
at what hp range will the block crack? they say a 302 block is a time bomb waiting to happen after 500 hp. also does it matter if the block is stroked to a different displacment(357,393,408)?
thanks

what are the best years to get a block from?

Any of the factory roller 351w blocks will work just fine. I'm well over 700hp with my stock block. It will survive as long as the machine work is spot on and the build is more than the basic norm...

if one were trying to achive a 700-800 hp motor wouldn't it be cheaper to do so with a 351 then a 302 based dart block? And save over 2k on a block?

from what ive heard it depends... u say around 700-800... daily driven? me personally, would much rather have the assurance of that extra $2000 spent knowing i have a race block thats designed to handle what im throwing at it. Jmo -Joe
