There is a fellow Norcal member selling MAC headers and they are 1 5/8" ceramic shorty headers. Do the 1 3/4" ones perform that much better? Are they worth the risk of no CARB OE number?

Any help on this would be great

I went to check out the headers that this member is selling and MAC offers both 1 5/8" and 1 3/4" shorty's. Just want to know if I am really limiting myself with the smaller headers. or will smog be a big concern with the big ones.

Big ones are not smogable. A friend of mine did get his 1 3/4 mac equals by a smog tech he brought the EO number for the 1 5/8...told the tech his plate fell of the 1 3/4's lol. I run mac 1 5/8 equal shorties on my 91 and it has run in the 10's so you can make power with them.
