which is better? I have a stock 97 cobra. A 10 lb. procharger vs. a ford whipple '03 cobra style. I personally like the looks of the terminator style charger.

Any ideas what to do with a stock cobra?

to get the whipple on your car is gonna take more than the blower.you would need heads, front accesories, etc to get that kit to work.unless they make a 96-98 cobra kit now

ya that ^^^^

go with procharger. u can make good power and it will be cheaper and easier to do

Procharger will give you more top and power and has the potential to make more HP over all. Whipple will give you really good bottom end.

Depends on what you are looking for.

sounds like the whipple is an unnecessary hassle.

Why not get that?

that is also as much work as the whipple.those kits are designed to just change the head unit.

How is is just as much work? You don't have to get new heads and all that other crap like with the whipple.

because that kit is for an 03 cobra in that link it talks about that vs an eaton.any 03-04 cobra kit is the headunit and a couple other things.you would basically have to turn that motor to an 03 cobra top half and front accessories, etc in order to use that

sorry i just re-read that it is for a 96-98 4v.the word eaton jumped out at me when i looked the first time.which doesnt make any sense due to the fact the 96-98's dont have one.

Sounds like this would be an easier install than a ProCharger or Vorech (non self contained) as you just unbolt the upper intake and bolt on the blower... no tapping of the oil pan or mounting of the intercooler.

But again, it depends on what you are looking for.. bottom end torque or top end power.

Yes, I like this idea. And it is for the 96-98? Correct?

I would look into the KB for your Cobra. I have a D-1SC Procharger on my 98GT which has upgraded heads/intake/etc. I like it, but centrifugals don't make much boost down low. My car makes 400 to the tires but you have to rev it before it moves. The KB would make higher boost at lower rpms. My $.02.

DEFINATELY GO WITH THE KB OR TOP MOUNTED SUPERCHARGER ESPECIALLY ON THE STREET DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU NEED THE LOWER RPM POWER MORE ON THE STREET THEN THE TOP END POWER, WHATS THE POINT OF EVEN RUNNING A BLOWER IF IT DOESNT MAKE FULL BOOST UNTILL 5 OR 6 K RPM, UNLIKE THE TOP MOUNTED WHICH MAKES FULL BOOST AT AROUND 2500-3K RPM ITS BASICALY A MORE USEABLE POWER.

Sounds about right for any blower setup for your car [Smile] Vortech is another option. They don't come with an inner cooler but they are very good blowers.

If you are lookin' to go cheap your best bet is to search for a used kit.
