OK a couple of weeks ago my 1996 4.0L Explorer started making a humming noise i thought it was just the EGR valve or something, it didn't run any different or throw any codes. Well today i put a K&N charger kit on it and the humming is HELLA loud now its coming from the Mass Air. What the hell could it be thats making it do that? Should i rotate the MAF? i have it in the upright position right now. Not sure what stock position is for it.

Probably the IAC valve

its really loud if you put your ear next to the connector for the MAF.

If it goes away when you open the throttle, it's the IAC

Either way. The IAC only operates to control idle speed when the throttle plate is shut. The noise is a very common problem with all Fords and will resonate through the air inlet to the filter.

oh ok so if it gets really annoying i can just replace the iac and it'll be gone for a while?
