In 1968 they had a stock non-power front disc brake option. You can pick those up for less than $1k (probably 700 or 800). They work pretty well, that's what I'm running on my 67.

Do the Granada front disc brake swap. It's pretty easy and you should be able to get the parts for a few hundred from your junk yard. Just make sure you use the ball joint that Mustangs Plus sells.
