what about the gt40 iron heads with porting, could you expect to see a difference with those? I have been toying doing this because I dont have much money to get aluminums at the moment, but wouldnt mind a little more power

i just finesed porting my stock e7 and am going to put them on my mustang this week end with an edelbrock intake and trickflow stage 1 cam hope to get some good numbers frome this set up. the best part about the heads is that it only cost me $50 to port and polesh them. and it seems that some people get as much as 15-25 hp from porting the heads

The E7 head is a real challenge to run big numbers with.
Myself, and many other NHRA Stock Eliminator 5.0's, (87-93) are running in the low 12's to high 11's with unported E7's and stock size valves. That is with a stock .444 lift cam too!
Also, NMCA Factory Stock racer Tommy Godfrey is running in the 11.2's with the same unported E7, and dominating the GT-40 headed cars this year.
It can be done, but it will cost you! Only us crazy guys would be dumb enough to attempt it... but we like the challenge!!!

I definetly wouldnt waste time porting cast iron.
It Just Sucks Man. gt40iron heads are a tad better out the box the the e7's. The e7's are better for porting cuz the exhaust bowls are aligned with the port where the gt40's is offset.
If anything just smooth out the bumps and blend the seats to the nasty ports so it kinda has a nice transition. Might pick up
3-4hp
