why would you want to disgrace a ford by putting a brand x motor in it? [BS flag]

Posted by Eddie510- (Member # 2354) on :

fuck it, why not, if it goes fast , thats all it matters, i love my ford fox bodies but if he has a built motor already, why not. One of my buddies is doing this as we speak on a fox. I belive your going to have to run a diffrent k member for sure. ill try and get some more info. [patriot]

its a big pain in the ass.....trust me... [Wink]

How is it a pain in the ass? They make all bolt in parts to do the swap? Its no different than doing a 351 swap or a modular swap. As for putting a chevy in a mustang I'm not real big on that idea. Shit you can go fast in any make or modle car if you know how to build it!!! [patriot]

i dont think he wants to spend about a grand on some headers.... there are ways around it but then enlies the pain in the ass part

all the work and money and he still wants to use a gm t-5?? just keep it ford!

haha you guys...so pessimistic all the time its not too bad of a job and hes got a tremec tko for it and yes hes getting the 600 dollar kooks custom headers and the k member and bell housing everything else isn't too bad, i am more of an optimist. thanks for all the hate though, but i didn't ask IF i should do it I asked HOW and what i need so if you don't intend to help then keep your typing fingers to your self peace [Big Grin]

The look on peoples faces when you open the hood will make it worth the effort to do so. Im feeling inspired. I think I'll put an LS1 in a coupe too. And I'll make sure its one of those ssp cars that everyone praises while Im at it. lol

what look? most guy's just walk away, Then go look at the stangs with ford motors putting down faster times. Then try to figure out why the guy wasn't smart enough to make a ford run the number? [Roll Eyes]

I am all about keeping it Ford, unless you are putting a LS7 in it or whatever the 427ci ZO6 motor is.

However, I have a Dart Block, Scat Rotating Assembly, Probe Pistons, Edelbrock heads and waterpump, etc. So, can I still say that I have a Ford Powerplant? I did keep the Cobra Intake and stock valve covers!!

Dart didn't develope there own designs. They are patterened after somthing. So if it looks like a duck it is a duck...My 408 is the same way I can not think of one part that is a ford OEM part. I might have to use a factory timming cover bolt. It is still designed after a 351 Windsor and you can bolt OEM ford parts on it.

hey 2 stangs pretty much...your annoying i really could care less how much you want to keep ford ford, but at the end of the day it really doesnt matter, and it has nothing to do with not being able to build a ford motor to be fast... he got a 500hp crate motor built and then decided he doesnt want the camaro so instead of selling it and throwing money in the trash were going to put it in my old car, which was fast enough but what the hell, so stop crying if you dont like it then stop posting

well if its related to ford yes but, putting chev stuff in... not so much meh i'll wing it

Posted by BCINGUU (Member # 2397) on :

I have custom built motors in my foxes and the 302 block is the only thing made by ford. Everything else is aftermarket, SRP, ARP, Federal Mogul, Edelbrock, AFR, etc. I don't see how bowtie parts are any different.

I guess there are some real ford fanatics out there who only buy aftermarket Ford brand parts, but most people are pretty flexible about what they put in.

would you trade your 67 eleanor for one with a 350 sbc?

[Roll Eyes] was I talking to you?

LOL this thread is great!!!! I say do what you want its YOUR time and money. If your bud wants to do it then that's all good. Lots of people go that route and pretty soon you'll see chevy based motors in just about everything. There are tons of after market support for that swap so its not that hard at all. Like others said contact Team Solo he's got an 8 sec fox with a chevy motor.

I like the Fox idea. Those cars are a dime a dozen and very cheap with tons of proven after market upgrades. In fact I was looking into doing a supra motor in one but I just don't have the time for another project right now. But I do have the motor, trans and foxbody. Just not the time. I remember when they put a Skyline motor in the fastback in the most recent Fast and Furious. That shit was bad ass!!!!!

sbc go fast parts are a lot cheaper than sbf. unless you are talking specifically about lt/ls parts or the swap bits

Posted by white50steve (Member # 5887) on :

im in the process of doing this right now aje and pa racing both make k members. kooks and lemmons both make headers but kooks are cheaper. you will probably need a custom driveshaft which is about 3-4 hundred and can be ordered from numerous companies. im using a 350 with a turbo 350 and the trans crossmember lined up perfectly. not sure with your aplication.
