I bought a brand new alternator from auto zone because my old one isn't working to good. Well when I install the new autozone one my dash shows the battery light and won't turn on. And when I install the old one it will turn on but the light will dim. I took both alternators to get checkd out at autozone and the old one is bad and the new one is good. So im lost any help? It going on 1999 mustang gt

How are your belts? I would recommend getting your charging system tested with the good alternator installed in the car.

you need to clarify, what do you mean "wasn't working to good"?? was it charging or not? did you hook up a volt meter and check it? and what do you mean by won't turn on? won't start, won't crank? no power at all??

Well if your other alternator was bad and you were still running it wouldnt your car just be running off the battery? So it wouldnt be getting any charge at all. Now you have installed a new alternator but have a dead battery.

Im not sure though.
