I finally put my 331 into the stang, but I have a problem. The oil pressure when the car is cold is around 60 psi and after it warms up it drops to 5 psi. I bought the motor used off a friend and it only has about 3,000 miles since built. I'm thinking a bad oil pump, but what else should I be looking at?

what weight oil and who built it. does the pressure increase with rpms? whats peak pressure when hot

10w30, and as the rpms go up the oil pressure does as well, @ idle when hot its @ 5 psi

Doubt it is a bad oil pump. Do you have a mechanical test gauge to verify your readings? Throw some 20-50 wt in it.

you need 10 psi per 1000 rpm. change for 20-50 and report back. could be tolerances that are too lose or another reason (bad oil galley plug, etc) you are bleeding pressure

HAVING A BIG HOLE IN YOUR OIL COOLER WOULD MAKE YOUR PESSURE LOW..
