So occassionally when at a stop light my idle will drop down real low and the lights (if on) will dim and then the car will suddenly jump up to 1500 - 1800rpm (causing it to lurch forward a bit) and then go back to normal. It also will get a little sputtery during accelration. These things only happen randomly, any ideas?
Also, my LOW COOLANT light has been coming on. Then if I turn the car off and turn it back on, the light will be off. My coolant isn't low, is this a sign of a bad sensor?
Thanks for any and all help!

The surging not so sure of could be possible ign issue or fuel is the ses light on? ses means check engine light. with the low coolant light probley bad coolant level sensor some times they get covered in crap from the old coolant sitting in your over flow for ever.

the engine is catching itself and revving to keep from dying, that is what is lurching the car. it probably depends on how abruptly you come to a stop. the engine carries its momentum differently depending on how its driven. as a temp fix, up your idle to around 900 in park/neutral. the dimming is just a result of your alternator not spinning fast enough when your rpms take a dive.

if you have under drive pulleys you will see the dimming all day lone. "JP" is rigth, some times they get covered in crap from the old coolant sitting in your over flow for ever. Just clean it snd the overflow tank.
