Here at HCI, we have built several modular stroker engines that have a 3.750" stroke with a 1.88" Indy journal bearing, compared to the stock forged Cobra @ 3.543" stroke and 2.0863" rod journal bearings
We have been using the Clevitte77H bearings, (which are recommended), though I recently obtained a set of KINGS-HV that are made in Israel, and rated to 850HP; HCI's Stroker kits are rated to handle up to 1500HP.
The kings HV bearings have a nicer finishing look, although we have always had success with Clevitte's 77H.
Recently, one of our customers was putting out 600 RWHP @ only 3200 RPM, before the fuel system became the limiting factor. He is also running methanol injection with only 18lbs. of boost, which is totally fine. The customer had too rich of a tune causing washed cylinder rings & thinned the oil.
When HCI inspected the motor there was minor detonation, washed cylinder rings and just the rod journal bearings had been worn down to the copper coating; which is the last layer in the Clevitte's Tri-metal bearing.
We are unsure as to wether this is a flaw within the smaller Clevitte bearings or as WE ALL KNOW no build can withstand a bad tune.
Any educated opinion is appreciated.
