Got some money together and want to get a new motor built. I have $2500 to spend, maybe a little more. I want something streetable, around maybe 350/400 hp. Trying to stick to no power adders/nitrous and it will be daily driven. Is this shortblock/longblock possible with this price at a machin shop or should i go with mail order. i live in sj
thnx

It's possible depending on the deals you get and the friends you have. What kind of car? I may have a 351 W for sale

I have a fresh 69 351W shortblock, and by fresh I mean it hasen't even been assembled yet, new hypereutectic pistons, shotpeened rods with arp bolts, bored and balanced already including a new balancer. It was going to be a 9.5 to 1 comp. 400 hp daily driver. The heads are bare but cleaned up and original, I started some porting but did not finish yet. If I sell it I'm looking for 1500.00 firm. You could build the heads but for the money I would just buy some aluminum heads for around 1000 and expect around 400-450 hp depending on cam and intake. My suggestion is a performer rpm air gap and a comp x-treme energy cam with around 230-240 duration at .050

I have a 302 that has several mods to it. Special tricks of the trade done for extra HP. Forged Pistons with ductile iron file fit rings, forged rods with Clevitte77 bearings and a good crankshaft, The shortblock has 0 miles on it and I would let it go for what your budget allows.
