well finally after owning a bone stock 97 cobra for 3 weeks i ordered up my first mod.

-I got the mac catback. 2.5" with 3" tips. part no. TK9625

my questions is can i just bolt this catback together with no leaks or should i get it welded up after its all put together?

i havnt ordred my mid pipe yet which will be a o/r x pipe. will this system be pretty quiet with the stock h pipe in? i have heard one with o/r x and sounded really good and loud. but no one with the stock mid pipe.

how much hp increase will this mod give on a stock healthy motor? im guessing 4-6 rwhp?

do a pro-chamber for the hell of it!!

get a JLT, 4.30's...and then tune it.

you should be happy with that.

as far as bolt ons go..

Hey Daniel

I never needed to weld mine on my Black Cobra.....but i tell ya what it never looked totally straight w/ sooo many pieces to line up. [Mad]

Bolt it up don't get it welded. You will see a minimal (probably not noticable) increase in power. However, you will definitely notice a diff in the sound quality [Smile]

Mac + O/R X will be obnoxious [Wink]

Bolt it on the best you can and head straight to the muffler shop so they can weld and tweak it, you'd never be able to get it to line up.

I personally wouldn't weld it just for the simple fact, that if you ever have to pull it off for whatever reason then you'll have to cut it.

Just use some of those band clamps.

Dont tighten any clamps until the whole system is installed. I learned the hard way that clamping the system before its all installed and things didnt line up well.

When I put on my o/r H, i would repeatedly get a "afterburner" type sound from the middle of the H connection every time i engaged the clutch to shift or it i down shifted. It was a bitchen combo but i took it off after 3 attempts of getting rid of that crappy noise. Is it only because they werent lined up right? i tried forever even using band clamps and all but should i just get the mid pipe connection welded? this could be another question but its in the same area. Thanks! [patriot]
