When I comes to the Trick Flow heads I have had nothing but success when installing them on small block Fords.

But currently I am helping a buddy of my re-build his 62’ 327 Chevy, and I was thinking about building the motor with a pair of Trick Flow heads. But when I dropped off the block at the machine shop to start the machine process my guy tells me that he has had nothing but bad luck with the Trick Flow heads for Chevy.

I know this is a Ford forum, but I know a few of you swing both ways [Wink] (hehe). Have any of you had any personnel experience with the Chevy Trick Flow heads? If so how did you like or dislike them?

My buddy went from trickflows on a 406 chevy to AFR heads and picked up alot. I think it went from 12.2 at 112 to 11.7s at 117. Not sure how much of it was the head to be honest. He changed the heads but along with that the carb was rejetted, motor retimed and plugs regapped. Not to mention I think (it was years ago) that the springs on the AFRs were different. This was all motor, hydraulic roller in a 78 camaro.

Did he have any mechanical problems with the Trick Flow heads? My machine shop dude was hinting that he had physical problems with the heads.

No head never had mechanical problems with the heads. Two years, but only about 10000 miles. 15-20 passes on the bottle. I just called him about 1 hour ago and we were talking about old times, good times.

To be honest he said the AFRs looked much better than than Trickflows and performed better, but he had NO issue with the Trickflows, mechanically.
