Yeah yeah yeah I know, who the hell would actually do this? ME!

Before you all say what a dumb idea this is please read. A friend of mine blew his trans in his 03 Cobra, he thinks his input shaft stripped. He doesn't have the money for the 26 spline input shaft, clutch, ect and I have a couple spare trannys. Would the Tremec 3650 bolt up and work in the 03 temporarily? Clutch, flywheel, driveshaft ect... This is his only mode of transportation so waiting isn't really an option.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Short answer is no. the 3650 is shorter in length then the T56 so the 3650 requires a longer drive shaft then the T56. Curious why he does not just replace the input shaft?

We pulled the trans and its the Input and the main shaft. He wants to wait and go with the 26 spline shaft, clutch, flywheel, ect and is currently broke. I have the drive shaft that goes with the 3650. Is the difference in length the only reason it wont work? I also noticed that both trannys have speedo sensors and the reverse light switch but the cobra trans has a third sensor that is mounted on the neck of the trans 1/4 below where the shifter bolts on.

Not sure about the third sensor, but I do know that the 3650 will also require a different cross member then the one used for the T-56. I have done a little research on the swap, but going from a 3650 to a T-56 and I thought it was just a cross member and drive shaft difference. Oh, and I believe the output from the tranny is different as well, meaning you would need the yokoe from a 3650 car.

Are you talking about the reverse lockout solenoid? You also need the a different u-joint on the end of the GT driveshaft to mate up to the IRS. You can elongate the holes in the crossmember or just get the correct crossmember, they are only $40 brand new anyway.

Do you have the different U-Joint to mate up with the IRS? Thats the only thing I need now.

Thanks for all of the help.
