So my 4.10's are goin in today and I needa know what I should listen and feel for once they are done So I know there in correctly? I'm having the whole rear rebuilt with all new parts so it should be quiet as it was stock right? With no weird noises in reverse and such?

what brand gears did you buy because ive heard even properly installed gears can have some whining.especially in 4.10's and up

Its all ford racing components. So im expecting for it to be a little louder but I mean as far as like a whine, or klunks?

no clunks but you may get a very little bit of whine.but if anything youll barely hear it.

what's up if there are 'clunks' between shifts?

Could be anything from a loose driveshaft, worn out output shaft, bad u-joints, loose lugnuts, to a possible incorrect install.

Doesn't it mean the pinion depth is off? So when powers bein transferred thru the ring & pinion there's too much space so u hear them slapping as they engage [Confused]

properly installed FRPP gears should make as much "noise" as stock, IOW, almost none.

@ this point the gears have a whine in 4th & 5th. only when i first get on the gas or when i first let off but its somewhat loud. no klunks tho. only have around 50 or so miles on them. so is this part of the break in or something being off?
