Just bought a set of BBK 1 5/8th longtubes and am wondering if it would be worth it to have them opened up a bit at the flange to help them swallow some more of the big AFR 185 exhaust port's. Engine is stock 306 with F cam and Pullied S-trim.

Yes, but why didnt you just get bigger headers?

Might as well do it. I've got the same headers on my car. The guys who worked on my engine recommended opening up the flange area to swallow the AFR exhaust port.

Got a good deal on em and I was told the only header's that would swallow the port would be up in the 1 7/8th range. Hell it is a step up from the short tubes/high flow's that were on there. Engine is only making around 600 fwhp so 1 7/8th's would'nt be worth the expense & fitament problem's.
