The reason I'm asking is because I just spun a rod bearing and I have two options....1) rebuild the current block or 2) install a 04 Cobra block. Has anyone ever put an 04 Cobra block on their 96-98 Cobra? I believe it will work, but just need some confirmation before I commit. Thanks for your replies.

Yes it will work but it's iron and heavy. I would rebuild your Teksid block.

I'm on a tight budget right now and a buddy of mine is willing to sell me an 04 Cobra short block for cheap. So I figure the least cost to me would be to use the 04 Cobra block instead of rebuilding my block.

If you are getting the shortblock those stock 04 Cobra pistons and rods are very good, go ahead and use it then.

I think using the 04 Cobra block will be my ultimate decision. Before I commit to taking off my buddies hands, I'm going to have the block checked out by the shop. I just hope I don't have any issues with the head. I'll have to cross my fingers. [Confused]

And also how do the 98 heads flow in comparison to the 03/04's [Confused]

This is going on w/ his curent S trim so i would imagine this should have no problem holding up to 15-17 psi correct.

Just double check those rods Alden [Wink]

What kinda # could we expect from this set-up?

I'm thinking of bringing my car to NextGen in Hayward off Mission. My buddy had work done on his 04 Lightning there. The only drawback is that they do not use SCT to tune, they are an authorized Diablo dealer. Do you have any reccomenadtions?

Thanks for looking out for me Pat. If the rods need to be replaced, then i'll replace them. I'll have to cross my fingers.

The 98 Cobra B heads flow very well but their problem is not flow but velocity... boost will alleviate most of those velocity issues but the 04 heads are generally better. I wouldn't worry about it as you can make some killer numbers with a boosted B headed 4V no problem. Also, as far as NextGen using Diablo instead of SCT, that's not a big deal, the tuner is more important than the software they use. Good luck with the build and keep us updated.
