I'm thinking about buying an 86 Svo. Here is my Q. (Bear with me, I dont know much about this car) The Owner says it wont hold boost after 4k RPM's (I belive it's a stock car/turbo). Does this indicate that the turbo is toast all together? Can it be re-built? Is this a common problem. Most imporantly, is it worth buying? thanks for the imput guys.

if your talkin about an 86 in san leandro thats white and on cobras, thats my boys shit my cousin was gona buy it but there was too much stuff wrong for the price, i know it needs new master cylinder, needs to be timed and he was missing the spout connector(thats why it wont hold boost after 4k i think) other than that the car looks great body is all done up

If you want to work on a car continuously, get an SVO. Boost problem could be waste electronic waste gate controller or the vacuum diaphragm. Smoke under boost is a bad sign. I owned one, love the handling and playing with boost, but it was a constant challenge to stay ahead of the gremlins. And the 2.3 4 cylinder is NOT a smooth motor. Lots of "buzz" going down the road.
