I have a 1997 cobra motor and trans that I'm putting into a 1956 crown. I would like to go automatic, does any one know which auto trans I can use? I was told I would have to use a lincoln any info would help.

one from a lincoln mark 8 should bolt right up, it is electronically controlled though so you may want to think about using a lincoln wiring harness, and that would mean doing an IMRC delete to the cobra intake.
that's all I know...

You want a 4r70w it doesn't matter if it's from a Mark VIII or not, the later years 4r70w's are the strongest, the 98 in the Mark VIII is the best one. I don't know why you would need to delete the IMRC's the Mark VIII has IMRC's as well and can control them just like the Cobra ECU. The only thing is that you want an ECU from a 97/98 Mark VIII because those years have the same IMRC's and actuator as the 98 Cobra.
