I have 331 w/ Holley systemax heads, and the Kenne Bell blower. Whats a good cam to go with? Someone recommended a X303 for my setup. What do the pros out there think?

i would go with a custom cam... or comp cams.... the letter cams are old tech

+2. go with more of a blower cam. go with a cam thats closer to the same intake as the exhaust (lift). you can call up comp cams and tell them your set up. the custom cam is pretty close in price to a cam that you can just pick out of the magazine....--rick

I think you would be suprisingly happy with an x cam and im sure many custom cam builders would recommend it for an off the shelf application.

I have 1.6's. I've heard the X cam and like the sound of it, but I also wanna make sure I get the most out of the blower.

The Cam depends on what you plan to do with the car. I have run both the E-303 and F-303 cam on my blown 331 with 1.6RRs. Surprisingly, the F-303 idles smoother then the e-303 and it makes more top end power, a lot more. It does give up a bit of low end torque, which is kind of a bummer for a street car. Anyway just my two cents...

a custom cam would get the most out of your blower... but if you got your mind set on the X go for it

That sounds tempting. This blower makes alot of low end torque, and it could benefit me losing some low end to gain better traction. But, how would the X compare in performance to the F? Not set on the X, but just wanna know if anyone has any input on it.

Custom FTW & never look back! I have the F with 1.6's on an HCI 306 now and it work'd good and pull's hard to 6,500 rpm redline but the cam cam in the used shortblock I got so I did'nt have a chance to choose or it would of been custom for sure!

I choose an F-Cam for my boosted application, have yet to run it, so I can't comment but I've read and heard good things about the F-Cam and that helped influence my decision, my car is turbo not supercharged though.

getting a X or F cam is always an option, but like with anything else on your car, when you can say " I have a custom cam " for one it sounds cooler and 2 it will most likely work better for you.....
