How are the vacuum lines going to the new intake? Was there a provision for the PCV valve already?

Did you try to raise the idle with the tb screw and see if that made a difference?

Cold start only? What about when its warmed up?

did you get the TB used or new?? if used, did it come with the TPS already on it?? if so, swap it for your old one.

*it sound more like you have a vacuum problem. your car might be calibrating for a certain amount of air/fuel, but getting more air somewhere else from a vacuum leak. I had this same problem. post more symptoms and updates --rick

stock cam, did not touch the idle, found a vacuum leak and repaired it, rough idle below 1000

what plugs you running and what gap?

When you say the compression is great across the board what do you mean?

What are the compression readings in psi, cold all plugs out?

just took it for a good ride and the brake pedal feels like a rock intermitantly, vacuum leak somewhere else

pcv valve for sure on the brake problem. i swapped injectors, throttle body and mass air and after i did that i didnt push the pcv in the back of the lower manifold all the way. when i drove down the street my brakes felt the same as yours. try the pcv valve. youre a smog tech, so you know how to check to see if the pcv is bad right?? when you shake it and it doesnt make any noise, its bad or clogged. if it rattles, then its good --rick
