I was wondering what's the difference in theses two axle assemblies. Why is there suck a difference in price? Is one much better than the other? Thank you.

why on earth would you want to spend ~$1k on a stock trak-lok 8.8" ?
you can pick up a rearend from an `88 thunderbird turbocoupe and get the same 3.73 or 3.55 gears (depending on auto or stick thunderbird) and get disc brakes at the same time....for $160 on full price day.
take it to a rearend shop and spend $200 bucks and get the trak-lok rebuilt and the bearings replaced...

Ok then here's another question. How much would it cost just to have the whole rear end rebuilt?

You could buy some nice axels, rebuild the trac loc, get whatever gears you desire, even put in a 31 spline carrier for way less.

Thank you for all of your help. I just found a good used one.
