The 30's are a overkill. You're looking at a engine that on a GOOD day might turn 265-270hp to the rear. High 12's with a good hook.

i was wondering why he didnt go with 24's with that combo, myself. If i run a dry shot on it would the 30's help any, over the 24's? not a nitrous guy so forgive my ignorance.
i think with a set of afrs, a better cam, and a good intake i should be into the 12's for sure. what do you think?

I would say to get a dyno tune "if you plan on leaving Your engine combo the same for a minute" and then the 30's will work just fine. If You have a good running engine then You already have enough to get it into the 12's. Do You have any drag experience?

I would watch some video's of people at the strip and pay attention to the way they pull into the water box & watch em warm up their drag radial's and get an idea of how long it takes to warm the tires up etc. Also try to pay attention to how high You are brining the car up on the converter and play with the launch rpm till You find the rite RPM for Your car.

JEG's stickers are noted as being a bit quicker than the summit stickers. slightly lighter.

on another note. i have a very similar set up and it ran hard. i just took it all apart and had the heads ported (gt-40 aluminums, the ones that say svo on them) also had the bottom end honed and re rung and done with arp bolts, i run 24's with an f-cam and a 5 speed. would this setup be capable of mid 12's on the motor? (with good driver slicks or dr's )
