Late 91-early 92. Pretty easy to drill-tap-retrofit later model non-roller blocks, as long as you have the right tools...and get it right the first time.

arent there oiling issues when you run a roller tappet (stock ford) in a non roller block?

Nope, as the later-model 351w have the longer lifter bores.

hmmm didnt know that.

i have bought a keith craft custom ground 351 roller retro cam and it came with lifters, pushrods and rocker arms.

the lifters are modified ford roller motor lifters and I thought it was for oiling purposes for the non roller block (408 R block) guess not....

So a non roller windsor crank would work in a roller windsor then??

yeah the cranks are all the same

i guess on 351 the lifter bores are taller (late model non roller) to accomodate...from what JohnB is saying...so that is cool.

When I say later, I mean WAY later (87ish) blocks. Modifying stock lifters? Maybe to use with regular vs. retro-fit pushrods...the oiling holes are in the same place no matter what. Lifter bore determines whether or not you have to run different lifters.

No. One is a two-piece rear main, the later models are one piece.

No. One is a two-piece rear main, the later models are one piece.
I think you are right because the papers say something about the plunger being down 55 thousands or something.

im gonna sell this all...not worth the headache and the what if.

John-i think im coming across a roller 351 this weekend (1993) and i also have a 92 351 complete from an F150 (1992). is the f150 roller?? i dont wanna disassemble it because i might sell the whole thing this weekend thanks again --rick

retro roller cam for 351 comp cams custom grind from keith craft

roller lifters and hardened pushrods for the 351

they all came in a 408 stroker with ford racing block (r block) from keith craft

First year for roller cam 351 was late 1993
You can tell if you have a roller block by the F4 part number cast into the block right above the starter
The earlier (89-early93)NON roller blocks will have an E9 casting number

Yes, both should be roller-style blocks.

Yeah I just checked and it was an E9. the whole engine is from a 92.
