heres the deal,when my 89 5.0 warmes up it has a hard time starting back up when i turn it off, i got a new starter and battery it still does it,my battery is trunk mounted and my negative was hooked to my back seat bolt but i relocated it to my shock tower and it still does it. i tried timing but no luck,i have trick flow intake,b303 cam 24lb injectors 70mm throttle body plus other things, would any of these parts relate to my problem? my only other options are changing my sillanoid and reley but if somone could help me out that would be great.thanks [ March 11, 2007, 11:30 PM: Message edited by: 68dustin ]

Have you replaced the lower intake or had the sensors in/out recently?

I had an old S-10 that wouldn't start when warm that had a bad coil, once it cooled down it would start, or I just jumped the solenoid, not sure if bad Ford coils have similar symptoms.

Yeah i replaced the lower intake a couple months ago about the time this started happing.... i put on aftermarket intake,cam,injectors.

Its possible it could be a bad Computer. When mine wouldn't start when warm i replaced everything spent about 1500 dollars in electronic parts,etc. It turned out it was the computer and i had gotten one for free lol

Run the codes first.
Could be starter is going out. Have it bench tested a few times consecutivly <----spelling. Sometimes the first bench test the starter is fine but if you do another one right away and it's on it's last leg it will die out.
Check the TFI module. You can't really test this but you can borrow a buddies TFI and see if the car starts. And if it is the TFI don't buy the cheapo one get the Motorcraft one. I may even have one lying around my garage if your hella strapped.
Rare but has happend to me before. Check the water in the battery cells. Car would be fine cool but when warmed up wouldn't start. Lights were strong, radio everything turn over good too, but wouldn't be enough to start it. Can't remember why I even checked the water in the battery but turned out to be it. LOL.

Edit: Crap, I just re-read your posting and it looks like you said you put your battery back up front. Thus this won't help you.
I have had this problem on both my late model stangs only after I moved the battery to the trunk.
When the starter heats up, it requires more current to turn. Believe it or not, the resistance of the long wire you used to get that battery in the trunk is preventing the starter from getting enough current.
Try this - Run a second wire from the battery positive to the front of the car, same gauge as the first wire. You will now have 2 wires in parallel and your starting woes will be significantly reduced.
Or else you can try a much larger gauge wire but I personally find it easier to use multiple smaller gauge wires (I used 2 gauge).
PS - you can also try using a starter from a 93 model, they have an onboard power relay that cuts down on the amperage. [ March 12, 2007, 05:55 PM: Message edited by: BCINGUU ]

Pull the coolant temp sensor, I believe it's near the front on the driver side. Is it a plastic bottom or brass?

Are you running long tube headers? If so your starter could be getting heat soaked.
Also, double (triple) check all of your electrical connections and grounds.
